Below is a couple of solid state amps that I would recommend, remember to check out my guide for more information.

Roland Cube - from £125

The Roland cube is a long time go-to for affordable decent sounding, versatile practise amps, but you can also get some good quality gigging sounds from the higher end models. They come with built in effects and a couple of different amp models so you can guarantee to find a tone that works for you, having a built in headphone port and an aux so you can play along with backing tracks can make this a great affordable option!

Boss Katana - from £222 up to £600

Boss (which are actually the same company as Roland) have recently produced the incredible Katana amp. Like the Cube the Katana features a number of different amp types and effects, but at a much higher level, they can also make fantastic gigging options as well as USB out so you can plug in straight into your computer to record directly or to edit your own patches to save in your amp for later. They also make a head option with a built-in small speaker, so you can practise at home quietly and take it to play at gigs.
